Ecological initiatives
1. Building the ecological community
The first, most important and fundamental initiative for all ecological work is the establishment of the project base, ie the ecological community
The successful implementation and realization of the project basis is so crucial because this ecological community is the living model and the evidence, visible to the people of the region, of the feasibility, application and effectiveness of all the methods and concepts of a sustainable way of life presented later in the association's work , will be.
This community will be the heart and the basis for the Impulse Center, and many of its executive members, as well as the project work.
The decisive motto for the first project phase and initiative is therefore: "Walk your talk!"
The task of the project and its members in the first phase of the project (establishment of the sustainable ecological community) is to create a living and stable microcosm of a sustainable community on the approx. 3.5 hectares of land on the "Cuna de las Estrellas" property, which combines all the principles of sustainability, permaculture and deep ecology.
This first project phase will extend over several years, depending on the resources available and the commitment of the project members involved.
This first and fundamental initiative aims to achieve the following effects:
Stabilization and enrichment of the micro-ecosystem on the property
Sustainable living and working basis for the project members
Education and community empowerment
Model effect and reference point for project work
Strengthening the credibility and seriousness of the project
Minimizing the ecological footprint of the project members
Minimization of the life support and housing costs for the executing project members through an increasing degree of self-sufficiency
Creation of sustainable income opportunities for the further development of the Impulse Center
Start of networking and cooperation with the people of the region
2. Collection of the state indicators of the regional ecosystem of the region + recording of the existing flora and fauna
This second initiative lays the foundation for long-term and optimal work for the preservation, protection and enrichment of the ecosystem in the region. This initiative is to be implemented in a continuous long-term monitoring process in cooperation between the project and regional experts as well as biologists and botanists from Mexican and international universities and environmental protection organizations.
The aim is to take stock of the flora and fauna with an overview of ecological niches and any endemic plant and animal species.
Furthermore, a representative recording of any contamination of the soil and watercourses, including the main rivers of the region, is planned in order to localize the sources of contamination and to design optimal measures to improve the water and soil quality.
The second initiative aims to have the following effects:
Inventory and deeper understanding of the local ecosystem on various levels
Basic education for an effective design of further initiatives and programs for the protection and regeneration of the regional ecosystem
Creation of a solid basis of argumentation for ecological awareness-raising work, training courses and the application for nature reserves as well as long-term environmental protection campaigns
3. construction of the ecological training and project center as part of the local culture center
When the second project phase begins with the establishment of the multifunctional cultural center in the town of San Mateo, a further basis for the ecological work of the association will be laid in the form of the ecological training and project center.
Here, and with the help of the mobile teams, the results of the surveys and monitoring can now be brought closer to the people of the region in a comprehensible way in order to work together with them to develop feasible solutions and improvement concepts. The social orientation of the house of culture will play an important role in establishing contact with the local people. By constantly building up social contacts based on honest friendliness and cooperation, the approval and acceptance of the programs should be supported as well as possible.
Main areas of the ecological project work in the 2nd and 3rd phase will be:
Protecting and improving the water quality of the region
Strategies for the sustainable use of waste and toxic substances
Programs for a sustainable restructuring of forestry to protect and preserve the forests as habitats and the last primeval forests in the region
Measures to reduce soil erosion in deforested areas with civil reforestation programs
Increase in biodiversity through gradual conversion of regional agriculture to organic farming and permaculture cultivation
Formation of ecological awareness for a sustainable and careful use of natural resources and communication of deep ecology
